Insights Regarding the Planning Process
The precision of your planning dictates the speed and accuracy of your execution. Essential supporting documentation entails a surveyor's plan at a 1:100 scale, encompassing all relevant local information such as surroundings, utility connections (water, sewage, electricity), existing structures, vegetation, watercourses, and more. In addition, clearly represent existing elevations, using 5-meter grids for normal altitudes and 2-meter grids for greater irregularities, on the surveyor's plan.
This comprehensive document is indispensable for obtaining a general building permit from the appropriate authorities. It serves as a repository of valuable lessons learned. The subsequent design phase is entirely open to your creative interpretation.
Design Phase and Strategic Considerations
Commence the design by identifying the optimal entrance location, complete with ticket counters, restrooms, kiosks, and other amenities. This entrance serves as both the starting and ending point for each game. The arrangement of fairways, sequentially numbered 1 to 18, should result in a seamless path with no intersecting fairways. Adhere to the following fundamental principles for detailed planning:
Select the entrance and ticket office location to prevent players from transitioning directly from fairway 18 to fairway 1. Avoid any crossings between entrance and exit paths.
Ensure each fairway smoothly follows the preceding one. Depending on the terrain and lot layout, the direction of the path may shift, but without necessitating players to backtrack. In uneven terrain, fairways align with the natural land contours, minimizing the need for costly retaining walls or excavation.
Maintain an approximate distance of 2 to 3 meters between the finishing circle of one fairway and the start of the next. Where space allows, especially for high anticipated foot traffic, consider incorporating dual fairways for numbers 4, 15, 18, and possibly 8, side by side, to prevent bottlenecks.
Optimizing Fairway Placement and Amenities
Distribute fairways across the miniature golf course, ensuring even coverage, and provide adequately wide connecting walkways. Note that, from the player's moving perspective, pathways should be broader on the left side of the fairways and narrower on the right to accommodate the larger number of right-handed players. Install benches near fairways 3, 4, 8, 15, and 18 to accommodate less skilled players who might require more attempts according to the rules. This also offers respite to players behind them.
An area with tables and chairs along the thoroughfare's periphery serves as a waiting area for guests, enhancing their experience. Incorporating a small playground for preschool children proves beneficial. Including a table tennis setup has been shown to encourage engagement. In southern Europe, adding one or two bocce tracks can be appealing.
Always prioritize creating a unique and relaxing environment for your guests, ensuring a blend of recreation and leisure.
